HOW DOES SEDATION DENTISTRY WORK?

The morning of your dental visit we highly recommend you come with a friend or family member as you will need a ride home after. You will be brought to a treatment room and given your sedation medication. Our dental assistants ensure you are cozy and we let you relax for a bit. Once you show signs of sedation we place you on a monitor to watch your vital signs.

Dental treatment is completed while you are in a relaxed calm sleepy state. When your treatment is completed your companion will return you home to rest for the day. You typically will have no memory of your dental treatment. You may still feel the relaxation effects of the sedation for up to six hours after taking the sedation medication.

Patients who have difficulty freezing will also find sedation dentistry a safe and manageable way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental visits.
